Band Profile |
SLUG is hard hitting cover band
located in Honolulu Hawaii. SLUG covers over thirty years of rock and roll with songs by
Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Aerosmith to today's gut wrenching
songs by Tool, Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine, White Zombie and everything in between.
With solid percussion, thunderous bass, churning riffs and cut-throat vocals, SLUG is hard
as nails and cranked to eleven! The members of SLUG have a long history of rocking in Hawaii with many different bands and venues. Frontman Erich Wida moved to Hawaii in 1987 from the streets of New Jersey fronting Open Fire and then Killswitch. When the lead singer for Big Dawg decided to call it quits, Erich filled the vocals position and the band changed their name to SLUG. Guitarist Ted Among, born and raised in Hawaii, originally joined Big Dawg having played with Steep Cliff (with his brother Les,) Naggs Head and Strike Zone. Local bassist Joe Galisa has a rich history of local heavy metal having laid down the bottom for bands such as Hawaii and Liquid Mirror and many years with Big Dawg. Drummer Robbie Watland is the rookie of the band having joined SLUG in March of 2001 replacing departing drummer John Andreoni. Robbie was the wicked double bass man for Poynt Blankk here in Hawaii and then in Arizona. Now he's back home and kicking it up a notch for SLUG! |
